Crown Cement appoints 2 new independent directors
Zakir Ahmed Khan, former Finance Secretary and former Chairman of the National Board of
Revenue, and Dr. M. Abu Eusuf, Professor & former Chairman of the Department of
Development Studies of Dhaka University, have been appointed independent directors of M. I.
Cement Factory Ltd. (Crown Cement).
The appointments were made at the 24th annual general meeting of Crown Cement held at the
company’s factory premises in West Mukterpur, Munshiganj on December 6, 2018.

Zakir Ahmed Khan

Mr. Zakir Ahmed Khan has significant experience serving in key positions in various ministries of
the government between 1970 and 2005. He also worked for the United Nations for an
extensive period of time and was an Executive Director of the World Bank representing
Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.

Dr. M. Abu Eusuf

Dr. M. Abu Eusuf is also the Director of ‘Centre on Budget and Policy’ at the University of
Dhaka. He is an economist by training. Eusuf is an active researcher and has worked for UNDP,
World Bank, EU, ODI, Center on the Budget and Policy Priorities, USA; University of Manchester,
